how would you describe your wedding to someone who was not there? what were some of your inspirations? how did you envision the wedding prior to your special day?
I envisioned my wedding to be elegant and classy, yet warm and inviting. We had a lot of family from near and far (as far as England) and that made it feel that much more special.
is there anything you wish you had done differently when planning your wedding?
I wish I had relaxed a bit more!
which three vendors were most important to you when planning your wedding?
Besides the venue (Royal Palm Yacht Club), the band – Bay Kings Band, florist – Honey Bunch, and of course Marissa!
what was your biggest wedding day savings?
Designing my wedding invitations on minted.com instead of using a local custom designer. I spent many many hours perfecting the design and format. It was definitely time consuming but in the , the invitations were exactly how I envisioned them to be and we saved money putting in the work myself.
what was your biggest wedding day splurge?
Adding the 7th and 8th members to be band, ie the saxophone and trumpet. But it was so worth it, the horns were awesome! The music was so important for us- we wanted to make sure everyone would dance and have a good time. The horns really added to the atmosphere.
what was the best advice you received when planning your wedding?
Soak it all in and enjoy our wedding day. Mike and I chose a sweetheart table at our reception so that we could sit and talk to each other alone and allow ourselves to absorb the night. We knew that we would be very busy greeting guests at the wedding so we made sure to set aside this time during dinner.
was there anything encountered during wedding planning that was unexpected?
Having to change florists 3 times was challenging but ultimately the florist we used, Honry Bunch, was absolutely incredible and a joy to work with and it made the stress of the process completely worth it.
was there a moment during your wedding day that surprised you?
How quickly the time flew! Particarly when we were called to cut the cake and I knew that meant it was almost coming to an end.
what was your favorite moment, or favorite part, of your wedding day?
Standing up at the alter with Mike and reciting our vows.
when you look back on your wedding day in 50 years, what do you think you’ll remember most?
Our first dance to the song Coming Home by Leon Bridges that the band played, and our lack of coordination!
