ready to go…

a client album all packaged up and ready to head out the door…
marissa moss photography wedding album

i think it’s so amazing i get to put together something that will be held sacred for a couple for the rest of their lives together. and beyond. because who doesn’t treasure the wedding album of their parents or grandparents? it will only get more valuable as the years pass. i think that’s pretty awesome.

i need to get better at photographing my couples’ albums before they get sent off. i’ll put that on my to do list. i’m always just in such a hurry to get them to the couple as soon as they arrive because i know they are so excited to receive them!

when i chose to study interior design in college i remember my dad making a push for me to go toward architecture instead. i really wasn’t interested, but he made his case which has stuck with me over the years, even though it wasn’t enough to sway me at the time. he said he found architecture so powerful a profession because the work is in creating something that will live on for so long after we are gone. which is true. there are not too many professions where you feel your work will still be of value to anyone in 100 years.

i connected with that. a lot. but not enough to want to build buildings instead of spaces. buildings didn’t seem personal enough to me. i find interior design more personal and intimate than architecture, and it was the right choice for me at the time.  even though i knew the life of the spaces were of a limited lifespan.  that was okay.

but now, 8 years after that conversation with my dad, i think that is exactly the type of work i am creating. work that will outlive me.  which maybe sounds morbid, but i mean it in the best way.  and if there is anything more personal and intimate than lulling someones newborn baby to sleep, or watching a bride’s mother attach her veil on her wedding day, i don’t know what is.

oh, hi
