we had such a nice plan of meeting a group of girls at the adorable little pumpkin patch set up in the middle of hyde park village to get our pumpkins that we’d carve sitting by the pool with pizza and wine… and then we got to the cute little pumpkin patch and saw the pumpkins cost $22!!!
i was with my friend lindsay who asked the woman if that was seriously the going rate for pumpkins these days… the lady claimed she had no idea. and although the money from the pumpkins was going to the humane society, it just seemed quite, quite steep for a big gourd we were going to cut to pieces.
well, we called the grocery store and found out just a couple blocks away we could pick one up for just $5.99. adios cute pumpkin patch, hello grocery store bin-o-pumpkins… but not before lindsay informed the pumpkin patch lady that she adopted one of her dogs from the humane society — which is way better way to support them than buying an overpriced pumpkin, don’t you think?
so we met up with our group of friends at the grocery store and choose our pumpkin victims and headed to carve pool-side. 🙂
as i was dropping lindsay off back at her home we couldn’t resist letting our pumpkins have a play date, all lit up, on her front porch.
and then, once set up, they just looked so cute that linds woke up her parents (at 11pm, on a weeknight) so they could come see them! hah. good thing they were really impressed. 🙂
(we were pretty pleased with ourselves too!)
