Hi marissa, I am a new photographer admiring your work. Only question I have is why leave the strobe on in the above pics? Lens flare stylistic, forgot to turn it off, or trying to make the bubbles show up more, or something else? You are a much more experienced photographer than I am, I am just trying to learn.
hi kyle!
it’s definitely not an accident as i dragged that light stand outdoors just for these exit shots. 🙂
it’s just a nice punch of backlight and helps to give the bubbles (and the couple) some life. i could have raised it up very high to get the actual flahshead out of my view, or moved to the side, to get the same backlighting without the flare, but i like the energy of that burst of light in these types of photographs.
