I strive to place a focus on people over place. I prefer for the people in my images to to be the most interesting part of the photograph. However, pretty places abound all over Tampa and it’s fun to adjust the feel of the session to the place you choose to be photographed.
I am happy to go anywhere you’d like! You do not have to stick to this list. However, here are some places that I shoot often, that I know photograph well and offer variety….
BALLAST POINT PARK
Brick roads, the pier and a view of downtown. plus, an open area with big oak trees and lots of moss.
Note: Less crowded on weekdays.
CURTIS HIXON PARK
A more modern, clean-lined park on the river with the colorful children’s museum and a view of UT across the river.

DAVIS ISLAND BEACH
A small beach area with light sand and some greenery. Overlooks the Davis Island Yacht Club boat basin. Especially nice at sunset. It’s a small area and weekends can get crowded so it’s best on week days. Doesn’t look like much to the eye, but photographs well!
DOWNTOWN TAMPA
An urban, downtown feel with stairs, lights and reflections.
Note: Best for engagement sessions or families with older children. Not recommended for babies or young families due to proximity to busy streets.
FRED BALL PARK / BAYSHORE BLVD
Park with oaks, palms and space for kids to run, plus a cute, little gray and white gazebo. Easy parkinng. Also has access to Bayshore Blvd. (Bayshore is optional with this location. Only to be used if your kids are an age where they are safe being adjacent to a large, busy road.)
HYDE PARK VILLAGE
Neighborhood-look with trees and grass, but also store-fronts and fences, steps and fountains.
Note: Best for weekday sessions when it’s more quiet with less shoppers and diners walking around.
MARJORIE PARK MARINA ON DAVIS ISLAND
A small marina with a cute, Spanish style boat house and docked sailboats boats. Also a view to downtown.
SWANN CIRCLE PARK
Park with old growth oaks and grass, and space for kids to run. Easy Parking.
THE UNIVERSITY OF TAMPA
Green, lush landscaping, historic, brick buildings with pretty woodwork, cut glass, and a view of downtown.
NOTE: Best for sessions after 5pm on weekdays or on weekends, when parking is open to the public.
WATER WORKS PARK
Along the river with greenery and wooden footbridges.
YBOR CITY
Urban look with lots of brick architecture and colorful store fronts.
