how would you describe your wedding to someone who was not there? what were some of your inspirations? how did you envision the wedding prior to your special day?
I always knew I wanted a spring wedding, with lots of greenery and color and some floral touches. I knew Lange Farm was the venue for us the second we arrived – it was so beautiful! We have lots of oak trees in Tallahassee (where I’m from) so having the ceremony center around a large oak made me feel right at home. And the pastel bouquets with the tri-colored, soft, and romantic bridesmaid dresses just put the finishing touches on my vision!
is there anything you wish you had done differently when planning your wedding?
Nothing! Hiring a planner (shout-out to Nikki Leonard!) was the very first thing we did and proved to be our smartest decision – she was amazing to work with and found us the very best vendors out there!
which three vendors were most important to you when planning your wedding?
I always told Nate that photography and videography were the two most important things to me on our wedding day (besides him waiting at the end of the aisle!) and that I wouldn’t put a price tag on those vendors, we would just hire the very best! “Third” place would be a tie between venue/food/dress/flowers – don’t make me pick! J
what was your biggest wedding day savings?
My shoes! $20 on sale from David’s Bridal and were exactly what I’d had in mind!
what was your biggest wedding day splurge?
Full photography and videography packages + extra hours – worth every. single. penny!
what was the best advice you received when planning your wedding?
Don’t sweat the small stuff! There may be minor bumps along the road, but we are building a foundation for our life together and that’s whats most important.
was there anything encountered during wedding planning that was unexpected?
There was a lot to do at the beginning of planning and a lot to do in the last few weeks, but in the downtime in between I felt like there must be a million things I was forgetting!
was there a moment during your wedding day that surprised you?
How emotional I got! Nate always teases me that I didn’t shed a tear when he proposed – but I was a mess on our wedding day! I cried at least 5 times that day (rare for me!) and now I get to tease him about being the one who didn’t cry!
what was your favorite moment, or favorite part, of your wedding day?
I can’t choose! Our first look, walking down the aisle, giving gifts to my parents, spending the morning getting ready with my best friends, saying our vows, smashing cake in his face, slow dancing to the last song of the night…how could I pick just one??
when you look back on your wedding day in 50 years, what do you think you’ll remember most?
Just that the day was even more beautiful than I ever imagined it could be. Spending that time surrounded by our family and friends, celebrating our love, is a moment I will never forget and will always cherish!
