… insights from jillian…
how would you describe your wedding to someone who was not there? what were some of your inspirations? how did you envision the wedding prior to your special day?
It was the happiest day of my life! I wanted the look to be beautiful and classic with lots of white, fluffy florals, and I wanted the reception to be a fun party for everyone. Most of my inspirations were found on wedding Instagram accounts and Pinterest, but our vendors helped bring the vision in my head to life.
is there anything you wish you had done differently when planning your wedding?
Not really! Everything worked itself out.
which three vendors were most important to you when planning your wedding?
1. Reception Venue – we wanted something beautiful, unique and in our hometown of Tampa. We chose the newly developed Armature Works.
2. Band – it was so important to us for everyone to have fun. Matt chose The Hit Factory, and they blew us away with how fun and talented they were.
3. Flowers/decor – FH Weddings & Events gave us the exact look and feel of our wedding that I dreamed about. I had SO much fun planning these details with them.
what was the best advice you received when planning your wedding?
I kept hearing that the actual day would be a blur and I would barely notice all the little details that I had spent hours analyzing. Because of this, I made it a point to be as “in the moment” as possible the whole day of our wedding, and I remembered to take in all the little details because they were important to me. I think this helped me enjoy the day even more.
was there a moment during your wedding day that surprised you?
We’re so happy that we chose the the newly developed Armature Works building for our reception venue, but for a while leading up to the wedding we worried about whether the development would be done in time as it was a large restoration of an old building. Our wedding ended up being the day before the venue had their very first public event. It was incredible to have it unveiled to us along with our friends and family for the first time together. Matt and I remember standing in the courtyard for our cocktail hour seeing huge, garage-like doors open slowly and dramatically to welcome guests into our reception room. We were not expecting that. It was stunning!
what was your favorite moment, or favorite part, of your wedding day?
Honestly the whole day was a dream, but we both loved holding hands at the alter and just feeling the significance of the vows were were making to each other. And we had sooo much fun at the reception!
when you look back on your wedding day in 50 years, what do you think you’ll remember most?
We will always remember what a happy day it was! We’ll most remember the excitement and anticipation of getting married and then the joy of celebrating with all of our family and friends.
