… insight from hilary …
what was your biggest wedding day savings? (and was it worth it?)
Flowers/centerpieces: Hilary’s mom, who lives a few hours away, came up with a vision for the flowers, purchased the flowers through a wholesale contact, transported them to St. Pete, and arranged them so beautifully. She helped so much throughout the planning in coming up with great ideas and finding ways to cut costs but it was unreal how beautiful the flowers were and the low, low cost she was able to do it for!
We were also able to save on the bridesmaid’s bouquets, groomsmen’s boutonnières, and corsages for family members by using fake flowers from a crafts store.
what was your biggest wedding day splurge? (and was it worth it?)
We splurged on a band, The Foreman’s Five, and it was absolutely worth it. Though the wedding reception was kind of a blur, I’ll always remember that the dance floor was packed from the moment after our first dance until the end of the reception.
when you look back on your wedding day in 50 years, what do you think you’ll remember most?
Having most of our guests stay at our venue for the weekend. Rather than only seeing our guests between for a few hours on Saturday night, we were able to see them and actually spend time with them throughout the weekend. We highly recommend an “on campus” wedding.
