… insights from courtney …
how would you describe your wedding to someone who was not there? what were some of your inspirations? how did you envision the wedding prior to your special day?
Romantic, elegant, fall insprired. I knew I wanted to get married in the fall and in downtown St. Pete where my fiancé and I are both from. We love boating and the water, so the view overlooking the marina and the fountain at he Mahaffey was picture perfect. I’m too type A to deal with unknown weather (and it did rain!) so we wanted indoors, so to achieve my romantic vibe we used lots of florals in burgundy and touches of gold and candlelight.
is there anything you wish you had done differently when planning your wedding?
I wish I didn’t stress as much and compare what I was doing and could afford to every Pinterest board and of a facebook wedding. Other than that, nope it was my dream day!
which three vendors were most important to you when planning your wedding?
Floral/decor, photography and the venue location
what was your biggest wedding day savings?
Food and beverage… my original caterer went out of business so I had to scramble to find a replacement. The venue helped me out a ton with this and in turn was cost saving.
what was your biggest wedding day splurge?
Flowers and decor.
what was the best advice you received when planning your wedding?
Take in every moment you can at your wedding. Take a mental photo because you will never have the same group of loved ones together at one time filled with joy and love. It just flies by.
was there anything encountered during wedding planning that was unexpected?
Many things! However the most surprising were some vendors lack of response for proposals or returned emails and calls. That was weird and I didn’t hire any of them!
was there a moment during your wedding day that surprised you?
Yes! A couple of surprises and mishaps that actually turned out in our favor (but I will keep those secrets!)
what was your favorite moment, or favorite part, of your wedding day?
The ceremony. Seeing my husband look at me with tears in his eyes and being annnounced husband and wife. By far the ceremony was my favorite part.
when you look back on your wedding day in 50 years, what do you think you’ll remember most?
The euphoria of being the happiest I’ve ever been. The most pure high of being with all of my family and friends and feeling on top of the world.
