i have been so behind in blogging, and i need that to change. i especially want to finish blogging the south america pictures!!
the last three weeks i’ve been putting all of my time into getting the branding finished up, the business cards printed, the new blog finished, and the website refreshed, etc….. but i’m finally ready to try to get into a routine.
last weekend i was so, so sick with what i thought was food poisoning, but turned out to be a 24hour bug which has gone on to infect michael’s sister and her husband, then on to michael’s dad, then, yesterday, it claimed his mom, and today, finally, landed on michael himself. my mom seems to be the only one left unscathed and has taken to calling herself “iron woman” while flexing her muscles… seriously. i keep telling her to stop – that she is just begging the universe to be the next victim of the bug.
and it is a bad bug. not a lick of fun.
so, today, while i’m staying home to dote on michael, like he did for me (except that he got bored of it by the evening of my sick day and left me alone to go to his sister’s birthday dinner — something he just apologized for since he’s now on the other side of things and thought i may still be going to the big family dinner my family has tonight… but i’m not) so i’m using my time to get back in the blog world.
so, here is a cliffs notes version of our lives the past few weeks:
we are still staying in my old room at my mom’s house. and it is still filled with boxes. i think it is 1 part bed, 1 part walking path, 3 parts boxes. it sucks. luckily, we are REALLY looking forward to moving into a condo that michael’s parents own after we re-do the kitchen and bath, get new flooring, some electrical work, etc…

problem is, the current renter was supposed to be out april 1st, but all the sudden, next thing we know, it’s become MAY 1st! seriously, seriously hard news to take. i kind of wanted to cry.
so, the original plan to just deal with the mess of our life, with everything in boxes and unable to find anything, is just not going to work. we could have done it since we thought we could see the light at the end of the tunnel, but we can’t do it for 2 more months (taking into account that once the renter moves out may 1st, we’ll still have at least 2-4 weeks to wait till we can move in while the bathroom and kitchen work is completed). so, this coming week, we’ll be looking into storage options for places we can put boxes to dig ourselves out of our own stuff. plus, my brothers graduate may 1st and will need their room back, and, i don’t think they’d be too pleased with it’s current state as the location of our clothing explosion.
eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek! i know it looks like, ‘geeze, why don’t they just clean up a little!’ but seriously, when we don’t a closet or a single dresser drawer, there is just very little we can do! when we do try to make it look more organized… it just doesn’t. oy.
in happier news, this past week i got to attend a three day photoshop conference in orlando and it was awesome! i learned so much! loved it. the highlight was finally learning how to use lightroom. since i have been working only in photoshop for 6 years this is pretty life changing.
while i was in photoshop heaven this week, michael was back here in tampa being a professional part-time babysitter to niece, madison. since her parents (michael’s sister and her husband) were out of town this week, and then both of michael’s parents came down with the dreaded bug, he had her at least part of every day from tuesday to saturday. he gets a free day today to recoup, but tomorrow we’ll have her just for a little bit from 11-1 and then, at 3pm, we pick up another little boy, ben – a friend of michael’s sister’s baby (whoa – could you follow that?) – to hang out for a few hours in the afternoon.
it is baby-o-rama over here lately. good thing we only agree to care for cute ones.
soooo, somewhere in between and during all that babytime tomorrow, we are going to the social security office to file my name change papers where i will finally legally take michael’s last name (after only 1-1/2 years of being married…. so what if i stalled a little LOT) and are going to try to drop off business cards in every local business that will allow us to do so.
