… insight from ashleigh …
what was your favorite moment, or favorite part, of your wedding day?
My favorite part was seeing him from the first time that day. Even from a distance, knowing that he was there and that everything was about to get started made all of my anxiety disappear. (thank goodness)
is there anything you wish you had done differently when planning your wedding?
We had a rather lengthy engagement, so we had a lot of time to hash-out every detail. We also had a brilliant coordinator (Laura Helm) to help narrow down my all-over-the-place ideas. I might have looked at pinterest and wedding blogs a little bit too much… There were too many fantastic ideas to choose from. In the end, we got it just right, and thanks to Laura, everything turned out perfectly.
which three vendors were most important to you when planning your wedding?
The photographer, the caterer and the music. In that order. \
Like many brides, I felt like the only thing I’d be able to take away from the event was photographs and video.
And of course everyone is always concerned about the food being delicious. 🙂
Music is pretty important to Frankie and I, and we both love live, acoustic covers. We went to see our band perform at one of their local gigs and knew they were a perfect fit.
what was your biggest wedding day savings? (and was it worth it?)
Instead of buying the $700 sash that I wanted to go with my wedding dress, I got one for $35 from ETSY. While it may not have been the exact look that I was going for, in almost all of my pictures the beaded part of the sash was covered by my flowers. And I promise nobody could tell the difference.
what was your biggest wedding day splurge? (and was it worth it?)
Our honeymoon to Jamaica might have been our biggest splurge… totally worth it!
what was the best advice you received when planning your wedding? (and did you listen?)
The best advice that I got was that on the day of, no amount of worrying would change what was going to happen… so just let it go. It happened to be raining on our wedding day, and we knew a few days out that this was going to be the case. What are you going to do? Can’t control the weather. I had no choice but to listen to the advice. And of course our wedding day was perfect, rain and all.
was there a moment(s) during your wedding day that surprised you?
Frankie surprised me by sending room service chicken fingers to my hotel room. It was a nice way to say “hey, I know I can’t be with you, but I’m thinking about you.”
when you look back on your wedding day in 50 years, what do you think you’ll remember most?
I’ll remember Frankie and I making faces at each other during the ceremony. We were both a little too giddy to take any of it seriously. Can’t wait to see the video of that nonsense!
