allie and j.r. have such a close knit group of friends that all wanted to them to have a wonderful, fun, memorable wedding (mission accomplished, by the way). one of those friends was shay cochrane, of shay cochrane photography, who likely would have loved to shoot their entire wedding in theory… but only in theory. whenever a good friend of mine is engaged the question always comes from someone as to if i’ll be shooting the wedding. the problem is, as great of a job this can be, it is ALWAYS more fun to be a wedding guest than the wedding photographer!
so, although shay wanted to be a part of allie and j.r.’s wedding and leave her mark on their wedding photography, she also wanted to be a guest at her good friends’ wedding and hang out with her husband and all of their other lively friends.
so, this is where i came in. shay recommended allie and j.r. contact me and after meeting for lunch a few months back the plan was set. shay would photograph the first half of the day. she would be there with allie as she got ready and with j.r. as he prepared with his friends. she would be there for their first look and able to take their formal photographs with their wedding party, and then at this point, i would swoop in to finish the job. i arrived just as formals were wrapping up and took over from there, shooting the wedding ceremony and reception.
instead of making allie and j.r. and their guests go to two different blogs for their wedding day post, shay and i have teamed up to combine them into one. so here it is. our combined effort to capture allie and j.r.’s wedding in all of it’s loving and joyful goodness. each of the images has been watermarked with the creator’s name so you’ll know whose is whose, and unlike a normal second shooter arrangement where the primary shooter edits all of the images from the day, shay and i were each the primary photographer for our portion of the day so we each edited our own work.
i love that we have such similar styles and i think they blend wonderfully.
…and now just a few other things i think you should know about allie and j.r.’s wedding day:
- they are very, very loved (most especially by each other).
- j.r. completely surprised allie (and pretty much every person in the room, for that matter), in them middle of the ceremony, with a serenade of a song written just for her.
- aaron proffitt officiated beautifully and dedicated such a chunk of time to stressing that j.r. needs to treasure allie every breathing moment of his life that my own husband (who came along to assist) looked at me suspiciously, as if i’d brought him along knowing what would be said just to make sure he heard it all. : )
- allie is as beautiful and delicate as a porcelain doll and has the milk and honey skin to complete the look.
- they had a lively wedding filled with music and joy and praise and immersed in love, love, love.
enjoy!
